The Bullymon Type

At Bullymon, our breeding program is built around a clear vision of the type of dog we want to produce.

We have developed a particular preference for the shorter, broader, heavier and more substantial side of the modern American Bully — dogs that combine compact stature, exceptional width, heavy bone, powerful bodies, strong head type and unmistakable presence.

Some of our dogs sit toward the more extreme end of the Pocket Bully spectrum, while others may display characteristics commonly associated with modern Micro, Mini or Exotic-style Bullies.

We don’t rely on one label to define our dogs.

We breed toward a type.

Short. Broad. Wide. Heavy. Compact. Powerful.

NOT JUST ANOTHER POCKET BULLY

Pocket Bullies can vary considerably in structure, proportions, substance and overall appearance.

Two dogs can stand at a similar height yet look completely different.

One may be lighter, more moderate and athletic. Another may carry considerably more bone, width, muscle, head, mass and overall substance, creating a much heavier and more extreme appearance within a similarly compact frame.

Our preference sits firmly toward the latter.

We are particularly drawn to dogs that carry an impressive amount of body, bone, width and muscle within a short frame — dogs that don’t need height to create presence.

But producing an extreme-looking dog isn’t the objective on its own.

Our breeding decisions consider the complete dog:

TYPE · STRUCTURE · SUBSTANCE · PROPORTION · WIDTH · HEAD · MOVEMENT · TEMPERAMENT · PRESENCE

The goal isn’t simply to produce the shortest dog possible.

Nor is it exaggeration simply for the sake of being extreme.

The goal is to continue developing a recognisable Bullymon dog.

One that makes you look twice.

OUR INTERPRETATION OF THE COMPACT BULLY

Our breeding program has evolved through compact American Bully and shorter Pocket Bully bloodlines, together with influences found throughout the broader development of the modern Bully.

The modern Bully exists across a wide spectrum of sizes and styles. Terms such as Pocket, Extreme, Micro, Mini and Exotic Bully are commonly used throughout the Bully community, and there can be considerable visual overlap between them.

Pocket describes the shorter height variety of the American Bully, but it doesn’t describe one particular build.

Extreme describes a heavier and more substantial type rather than height alone. A dog can therefore be Pocket in height while also being extreme in build.

Micro, Mini and Exotic Bully are commonly used to describe particularly short, compact dogs and, in some cases, dogs displaying more exaggerated or Bulldog-influenced characteristics.

We believe in being transparent about those differences and influences rather than trying to fit every dog into one convenient marketing label.

What matters to our breeding program is the individual dog in front of us and what that dog can contribute to the next generation.

WHAT WE BREED FOR

Compact Stature

We favour dogs that carry substantial body and presence within a short, compact frame.

Height alone doesn’t create the Bullymon type. It is how that height works together with the dog’s proportions, width, bone and body.

Exceptional Width

Width is one of the most recognisable characteristics of the type we favour.

We look for broad fronts, substantial bodies and powerful proportions that create presence from every angle.

Heavy Bone & Substance

We prefer significant bone and overall substance rather than a lightweight appearance.

The objective is a dog that looks dense, substantial and powerful for its stature.

Powerful Bodies

We value dogs capable of carrying considerable muscle and body mass within a compact frame, creating the heavyweight appearance associated with our breeding direction.

Strong Head Type

Head type contributes significantly to the overall character of a Bullymon dog.

We favour broad heads, strong skull development, pronounced cheeks and distinctive expression that complement the body rather than existing as an isolated feature.

Proportion & Structure

Individual features mean very little if they don’t work together.

Width, bone, body, head and compactness need to form a dog with balanced overall proportions and functional structure.

Movement

A dog has to exist beyond a photograph.

We pay attention to how our dogs stand, move and develop, because impressive structure should still function when the dog is in motion.

Temperament

Appearance may create the first impression.

Temperament determines what the dog is like to live with.

Confidence, stability and temperament remain important considerations within our breeding decisions, alongside physical type and structure.

BREEDING WITH PURPOSE

Every pairing begins with the same question:

What can these two dogs contribute to the next generation?

We don’t select a pairing simply because two dogs look impressive individually.

We consider how their strengths, weaknesses, structure, proportions, pedigree, temperament and overall type may complement one another.

One dog may contribute exceptional width and substance.

Another may bring qualities we want to strengthen in structure, head type, movement, temperament or proportion.

The objective is not simply reproduction.

It is progression.

Each generation should give us information that helps refine the next.

Some puppies may ultimately become family companions.

Others may display qualities significant enough for us to retain and evaluate as potential future breeding dogs.

That is why our puppies are continually observed as they develop rather than being judged solely at birth.

A TYPE THAT CONTINUES TO EVOLVE

The Bullymon type isn’t based on one dog, one litter or one fashionable feature.

It is something we continue to develop through selection across generations.

Not every Bullymon dog will look identical.

Nor should they.

Some may be shorter. Some broader. Some heavier. Some may carry a more extreme head or body type.

What should become increasingly recognisable is the direction behind them.

Compact stature. Exceptional width. Heavy bone. Powerful bodies. Strong head type. Presence. Temperament.

Those are the qualities we continue selecting, combining and refining.
